Privacy Policy
Effective 15 October 2026.
This policy covers what Vector collects, why, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. Vector is operated by Vector pvt ltd ("Vector", "we", "us"). It applies to vectoredu.co.in and everything you do signed in there.
We wrote it to be read. If something here is unclear, email support@vectoredu.co.in and we'll answer, and fix the wording.
The short version
- We collect what you type into Vector, what you tell us about yourself, and the public GitHub activity you choose to connect.
- We use it to build and adapt your plan. We don't sell it, rent it, or use it for advertising.
- A few companies run parts of the service for us (hosting, database, sign-in, email, AI). They get only what their part needs.
- There are no analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
- You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion at any time.
What we collect
If you join the waitlist
- Your email address.
- The page that referred you, if your browser sends one.
- Your browser's user-agent string (browser and operating system).
- A one-way hash of your IP address, made with a secret salt. We keep the hash only to spot abuse; we never store the IP address itself and can't turn the hash back into one.
If you create an account
- Sign-in details: your email address and name, and a password or the account you sign in with. Passwords are handled by our sign-in provider; we never see them.
- Profile: your name, and if you give them, your college, branch, graduation year and how many hours a day you have.
- Onboarding answers: your answers to the onboarding questions, and the field fit and insights we derive from them.
- What you do in Vector: your goals, chosen projects, roadmap progress, daily tasks and whether you marked them done or skipped.
- Chat: the messages you send to Vector and its replies.
If you connect GitHub
- Your GitHub username and numeric account id.
- An access token GitHub issues to us. We request it with no extra permissions, so it can only read what is already public on GitHub.
- Public repository data we read with it to check your tasks: commit messages, changed files and the repositories you link to a project, plus the skills and evidence we derive from them.
We never ask for, and you should never send us, government ID numbers, bank or card details, or health records.
Collected automatically
When you visit, our hosting provider handles your IP address, browser details and the pages you request, as every web server does, to deliver the page and to protect the site from attacks. We don't run analytics on top of that. Cookies are covered in the Cookie Policy.
How we use it
- To run the service: sign you in, save your progress, generate your plan and daily tasks, answer you in chat, and check tasks against your GitHub work.
- To adapt it to you: your answers, progress and chat shape what Vector suggests next. That is the product.
- To email you: the waitlist confirmation, a note when Vector opens, and messages about your account. No marketing lists, and no emails from anyone but us.
- To keep it safe: spot abuse and spam, and investigate when something breaks.
- To improve it: understand what works and what doesn't. Where that needs your data rather than aggregate counts, we look at it as little as we can.
We don't sell or rent personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.
AI processing
Parts of Vector are generated by an AI language model: your field fit, project suggestions, daily plan, task checks and chat replies. To produce them we send the relevant parts of your data (your answers, profile, progress, messages and, for task checks, the GitHub data described above) to our AI provider, which runs the model and returns the result.
We don't use your data to train AI models, and we choose providers that don't use it to train theirs. AI output can be wrong, see the Disclaimer.
Who else sees it
We use these service providers. Each processes data on our behalf, for the purpose listed, under its own security and privacy commitments.
| Provider | What they do for us | What they handle |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosting and network security | All traffic to the site |
| Neon | Database and sign-in | Everything stored about your account |
| Groq | Running the AI model | What we send for AI processing, above |
| Resend | Sending email | Your email address and the email itself |
| GitHub | Connecting your GitHub account | Only what you approve on GitHub's own consent screen |
Beyond them, we share data only when the law requires it (a valid court order, for example), to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of Vector, in which case this policy keeps applying to your data and we'll tell you first.
Where it's stored
Our providers run servers in several countries, so your data may be stored and processed outside India. We only use providers that protect it to the standard this policy describes, and transfers follow Indian law, including any restrictions the Government notifies under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist entries: until Vector opens to you and for a reasonable time after, or until you ask us to remove you.
- Account data: for as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete it, we delete it within 30 days, apart from what the law makes us keep.
- GitHub token: until you disconnect GitHub, revoke Vector's access on GitHub, or delete your account. If GitHub tells us a token was revoked, we delete it straight away.
- Backups: deleted data can survive in backups for a limited time before they rotate out. Nothing is restored from them except to recover from a failure.
Your rights
Wherever you are, you can ask us to:
- Access: tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy.
- Correct: fix anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete: erase your account and data, or remove you from the waitlist.
- Withdraw consent: stop processing that depends on your consent. This doesn't undo what was done before, and some of the service may stop working without it.
- Nominate: name someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or can't act yourself.
Email support@vectoredu.co.in from the address on your account. We may need to confirm it's you before acting, and we'll reply within 30 days.
You can revoke Vector's GitHub access yourself at any time, from GitHub's Settings → Applications → Authorized OAuth Apps.
If you're in the EU, UK or another place with its own data protection law, you have the rights that law gives you, including complaining to your local data protection authority.
Grievances
If you have a complaint about how we handle your data, contact our Grievance Officer:
- Name: Atharv Arya
- Email: support@vectoredu.co.in
We acknowledge complaints within 48 hours and aim to resolve them within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India once it is accepting complaints.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest by our database provider. Access is limited to people who need it to run Vector. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Children
Vector is for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think someone under 18 has signed up, tell us and we'll delete their data.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll email you before it takes effect.
